Work out harder, Get FATTER!

Our culture teaches, “work hard, reap well”, but God teaches, “Trust Me, and SLEEP WELL! ”

Sleep equates metabolic power!
In science we see a parallel between sleep loss and fat gain. In one study where participants lost 4 hours of sleep for a few nights, their lepton production (major fat burning hormone) dropped 25%!That means an increase of hunger by 25% along with a reduction of metabolic activity by 25%. The PERFECT STORM for wrecking our lean machines! In another study we see similar findings:

Our fitness will only maximize as we work WITH our bodies design and purpose, not against it. Working out harder, lifting heavier, running faster all sounds so compelling! BUT, if we are pushing for this from an attitude of self drivenness, we will likely plummet along with the 80 percentile from an injury, weight gain, mental disturbance and hormonal dysfunction. Our bodies are a delicate balance of spirit and matter, designed to be a lean and strong structure spiritually and physically.

Scripture teaches us,

“Unless the Lord builds the house,

They labor in vain who build it…

It is vain for you to rise up early,

To sit up late,

To eat the bread of sorrows;

For so He gives His beloved SLEEP.”

-Psalm 127:1-2

God hates workaholism, weather it be in fitness, career or in ministry!
